Field trips are two-hour interactive experiences covering at least 10 areas of disability, accommodating up to 140 participants at the Greenwood Hills Learning Center in Richardson. This unique and innovative program focuses on perspective-taking and building skills in empathy, kindness, and compassion through one-on-one interactions.

Students will explore questions such as, “What are the seven principles of universal design?” and “Why are they important?” during this 1.5-hour playground experience at the Ann Eisemann Inclusive Playground in Cottonwood Park, Richardson. Together, we’ll explore the playground and discover how each of the seven principles of universal design can be found in action. This engaging program is a great fit for 2nd and 3rd grade students!

Though we cannot bring our entire program to you, we can provide a modified in-person program or panel discussion in the Dallas area with three of our LEADers. These programs are typically about 1 hour in length.

Through authentic engagement with our LEADers – individuals living with disabilities – To Be Like Me creates powerful learning experiences that build empathy, inspire compassion and equip our communities to be more inclusive. We’d love to work with your team! Teachers can earn 2 hours of TEA-approved CPE credit.

Families/groups experience the program together, sparking meaningful connections and conversations.

Our next Community Day is Sunday, October 25, 2026 at Greenwood Hills Learning Center in Richardson. 

Our LEADers love to interact virtually with high school, college, and graduate students! Each virtual interaction is 45 – 60 minutes.
